The school has recently developed a science garden where pupils from each class have planted a wide variety of plants and vegetables. The school is part of the Discover Primary Science programme and the Incredible Edibles programme. The school also takes part in the Department of Foreign Affairs Wider World Development Education programme. Pupils from 6th class undergo a cycling programme every year. St. Ciaran's school has been part of the National Teacher induction programme since 2008 and has two qualified mentors.
St. Ciaran's School was successful in its application for Fingal Artist in Residence programme for the first time in 2008. Pupils from the school collaborated to produce a display of photographic and print work which went on display in the Blanchardstown Library in June 2008.
St. Ciaran's maintains strong links with Draíocht Theatre. The pupils have attended many workshops there. As part of our celebration of 25 years pupils from our school performed on stage in Draíocht in a performance through dance of "Ciaran's Story" in collaboration with Ballet Ireland.
The school also provides opportunities for pupils to experience workshops and productions by travelling theatre companies on an annual basis.
The school is very happy to be linked with Clonsilla Credit Union and take part each year in their art competition and school quiz and over the years we have been very successful.
The school provides extra-curricular activities for the pupils such as Gaelic football and Choir. The school enters boys and girls teams in football competitions and has had a great deal of success over the years. As part of our 25 years celebrations the school organised local football tournaments for boys and girls teams, the finals of which were held in St. Peregrine's G.A.A. club in 2007. These competitions are now held on an annual basis. The school maintains strong links with St. Peregrine's G.A.A. club and avail of the services of their football coach in the school for blocks of coaching lessons.
