Information for parents of new entrants

Important Rules

  • Please make sure that your child is on time for school each day.
  • Assist the traffic wardens at all times by following their instructions.
  • Please obey the instructions of the caretaker by not driving your car into the school grounds. This is to ensure the safety of all of our children.
  • Please make sure that your child is collected on time, at 1.40p.m. each day.
  • Parents must wait outside the school gates at the corresponding number on the ground of the child's class and wait for their child to be brought to that point by the teacher.
  • Please note that children will not be allowed home on their own under any circumstances.
  • Under no circumstances will infants be allowed to go to a sibling's class after school finishes in order to go home with him /her.
  • Any parent who may be delayed for exceptional reasons should contact the school and speak with the principal who may make an arrangement to supervise the child.
  • The school must be kept updated of any changes of address or contact numbers of child minders.
  • Please note that a special timetable will be in operation for an initial period in order to ease your child into the routines of the school. This is supplied on a separate sheet.
  • After this special induction period parents will not be allowed to accompany their children into the school building.
  • Children should not be in the school grounds before 9.00a.m or after 1.40p.m./2.40p.m unless accompanied by an adult as insurance cover only applies between these times. School related events are covered.
  • Outside of these times parents/guardians are responsible for the health and safety of their child/ren on the school premises.
  • Bicycles, tricycles and scooters are not allowed inside the main gate in the interest of Health and Safety.
  • Doors are opened at 9.00a.m. for the children except in the case of extreme weather where the children will be allowed in at 8.50a.m.
  • Parents and children may not enter the building before the supervising teacher opens the doors.
  • If a pupil has been absent from school, the parent must notify the teacher as to the reason for the absence, on the pupil's return to school.
  • If a child has to be collected from school early for any reason parents must go to the office to sign the early departures book and in the case of a guardian must have written consent from parents.
  • Parents should meet with the teacher by appointment only during school hours. Parents may meet with the teacher at 1.40p.m. each day.
  • At St. Ciaran's School we are proud of the general behaviour of all our children. In this regard children must follow our Code of Behaviour in the interest of the whole school community.
  • Children are required to wear School Uniform comprising of wine jumper, cream shirt, grey trousers, grey skirt/pinafore and black shoes. Uniforms can be purchased from Happy Events in the Blanchardstown Centre.
  • Tracksuits are worn on P.E. days along with school polo shirt and non-marking runners.
  • Light canvas runners are not allowed in the interest of Health and Safety.
  • Please adhere to the markings in the infant yard and allow classes to move freely into school.
