Some Important Points for the Welfare of your Children in School

  • We, at St. Ciaran's School, encourage healthy eating habits and for this reason we encourage parents to give children lunches that include healthy options from the Food Pyramid i.e. sandwiches and fruit.
  • Through our S.P.H.E. Programme your children will be taught the importance of healthy living and hygiene and we hope that this teaching will be reflected in the lunches children bring to school.
  • Please avoid fizzy drinks for school as these can have an adverse effect on your child's behaviour in school and can interfere with concentration.
  • In the interest of safety hot drinks, canned drinks and glass bottles are not allowed.
  • Fruit should be cut into manageable segments and oranges peeled.
  • No crisps, popcorn etc are allowed in school.
  • Each child must have a lunch box to bring home any uneaten lunch or lunch papers.

Please refer to the School's Healthy Eating Policy for more details on the above points.

  • Please put name tags on all of your child's belongings including clothing especially jumpers and coats, track suits, lunch boxes and bottles, school bags and books. Please place a visible label with name on the child's jumper for easy recognition by teacher.
  • Please check your child's hair regularly for head lice, as it is a common problem in every school. Inform the teacher immediately if you spot this condition.
  • Personal hygiene is extremely important. Parents are responsible for their child's cleanliness.
